The Crypt Gallery, St Martin-in-the-Fields
Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JJ
Monday 2 April - Sunday 8 April
2012
This diverse group of London-based painters present a new and vibrant collection of contemporary abstract and figurative work, beautifully offset by the ancient brick walls of the atmospheric gallery in the crypt of St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Deborah Burnstone
Anonymous stretches of roads, motorways and places at the edges of the urban landscape are the starting point for many of Deborah Burnstone's paintings. As the paintings develop, texture, colour and the physicality of paint become increasingly important.
Elma’s recent work explores imaginary landscape – a world of unearthly beauty and freedom. In her Paradise Garden the animals are free and the colours an expression of the spiritual world.
Annie Price
Based on memory and musicality, Annie's paintings are inspired by landscape, mainly the Yorkshire Dales and Scotland.
Robert Silcock
Robert’s arresting paintings are re-workings of found images into which he introduces ambiguity and uncertainty.
A recurrent theme of these paintings is that of ancient standing stones: they have intrigued us through the centuries generating speculation and myth
about their origins.
